Requirements for obtaining a New Zealand Active Investor Plus Visa
The reformed Active Investor Plus visa system provides for two separate categories for investors, each with its own investment and residence conditions.
1. Growth Investment
- Minimum investment: $5 million
- Term: 3 years
- Investment assets: high-risk ventures – managed funds, direct investments
- Residence requirements: only 21 days per year in New Zealand
This category is focused on supporting high-risk entrepreneurship, startups and innovative industries.
2. Balanced Investment
- Minimum investment: $10 million
- Term: 5 years
- Investment assets: bonds, shares of public companies, commercial real estate (with new investment permission)
- Residence requirements: at least 105 days per year
This option is more suitable for more conservative investors who are willing to spend more time in the country.
Popularity among applicants for New Zealand investment programs
According to official data from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment:
- 132 applications were submitted under the growth category.
- Only 36 applications were submitted under the balanced category.
This indicates that investors prefer more flexible conditions and invest in those areas that meet the government's goal of attracting productive capital to innovative and risky areas.
Immigration Minister Erica Stanford noted the success of the new model compared to the previous system. According to her, applicants "literally line up" and the average processing time is only 11 days.
New Zealand's previous investment program attracted only 115 applications and $ 29 million in investment over three years. The new format has significantly surpassed these results in just a few months.
First results: $25 million already invested
As of June, four investors have already completed the transfer of funds to New Zealand, the total investment amount was $25 million.
In addition, 80 applicants received pre-approval and are in the final stage of document processing, which indicates a high level of interest in the program and confidence in the new model of capital attraction.
The Active Investor Plus investment program has already proven its effectiveness, demonstrating significantly higher results compared to the previous model. Flexible living conditions, focus on innovative industries and fast processing of applications make New Zealand an attractive jurisdiction for international investors. High demand, billion-dollar investment potential and already confirmed transactions indicate the strategic success of the reform, which combines the interests of the state and capital.
