New requirements for hand luggage at Ryanair

The company is tightening control over compliance with the rules for the carriage of hand luggage. Now only one bag up to 40×20×25 cm in size will be allowed on board for free, which must fit under the seat in front.

Passengers who wish to take a second and larger suitcase with them can purchase a priority fare, which includes more luggage, as well as some additional benefits:

- Priority fares allow you to take on board a small personal bag (40×20×25 cm) and hand luggage (55×40×20 cm) weighing up to 10 kg.

- Priority passengers also board first.

The cost of the “Priority plus two additional pieces of luggage” fare:

- When booking online, it is from approximately 7 to 42 euros.

- At the check-in desk – from 23 to 44 euros.

If priority is sold out or the passenger wishes to check in his luggage at the baggage claim, he can purchase a 10 kg checked bag:

- When buying online – from 14 to 35 euros.

- At the airport – from 28 to 42 euros.

Important! If you show up for boarding with a 10 kg bag that has not been paid for in advance, you may be required to pay around 53 euros for last-minute check-in or even be denied boarding.

Ryanair digital boarding passes

Earlier this year, Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary announced that the airline would end the use of physical printed boarding passes. This was originally planned for May 2025, but was later postponed to November 2025. According to the CEO, up to 60% of travelers are already using mobile passes.

- How to get a Ryanair boarding pass by November 2025?

Currently, Ryanair passengers can get their boarding pass in one of the following ways:

1. Print paper passes.

2. Download digital boarding passes in the Ryanair app.

3. Collect your pass at the airport.

Important! If you do not check in online or download your boarding pass before arriving at the airport, you may be charged a fine of around €64.

- What will change in the boarding pass procedure from November 2025?

From November 2025, paper boarding passes will disappear completely. All tickets will be generated in the “myRyanair” app, and the airline plans to eliminate airport check-in counters, making the entire process digital.

Ryanair announces late check-in fines

Ryanair is urging all passengers to arrive at the airport early to avoid delays at security and make it to their boarding gate.

If a passenger arrives more than 40 minutes before departure, they may be charged a €120 missed flight fee.

The same fee applies to those who check in within an hour of the scheduled departure time to transfer to the next available flight.

Ryanair Travel Rules in 2025

From now on, before each flight, make sure that:

- You have checked in online

- You have uploaded your boarding pass to the app

- You strictly follow the baggage rules

- You arrive at the airport early

This way you will avoid unexpected expenses and can enjoy your trip with peace of mind!

In 2025, Ryanair is significantly changing the rules for passenger transportation, strengthening baggage control, introducing only digital boarding passes and late fees. To avoid additional costs and stress at the airport, it is important to check in online in advance, upload your boarding pass to the app and comply with the new baggage restrictions. Proper preparation is the key to a comfortable and trouble-free trip with Ryanair.
